Updated Friday afternoon..... after the last heavy rain, the drought index for our area has gone from moderate drought back to abnormally dry.
Yellow is abnormally dry
Light brown is moderate drought
Orange is severe drought
Although we are way above normal for the year, the hot summer and an extended dry spell has caused some recent problems.
The GFS has no rain for the next week. The map on the right is the 60 hour rain total at 228 hours. The model has the rain coming in next Saturday night and Sunday. With some 80s possible before then, there is a chance we could slip back into a moderate drought as the ground will be drying out fairly quickly.
I was at WAVE earlier today and how about this..... 6 meteorologists in the same room.
