There were so many beauties last night at the Academy Awards it is difficult to choose. My favorites were: Octavia Spencer, Stacy Kiebler, Milla Jovovich and Michelle Williams, Giuliana Rancic & Jessica Chastain.
Octavia has simply chosen dresses time after time that are so flattering on her body that you can't ignore her! She is beautiful! Stacy looked like Oscar himself last night in gold! Milla was my first red carpet hit of the night and looked like old Hollywood glamour! Giuliana wore two white gowns, both equally stunning. Jessica rocked a couture dress. It was a risk, but she pulled it of amazingly!
But to choose a favorite, I would have to go with Michelle Williams b/c of her quiet elegance, ladylike glamour and the beautiful coral soft dress she chose! She exudes grace, elegance, and glamour. Her dress was on trend with a pelpum and in one of the hottest shades of the upcoming Spring season - coral/orange. I loved the softness of her dress and it totally flattered her skin tone! Well done Michelle!
There were some misses for the evening too. I'd have to say Melissa McCarthy's dress was my least favorite. I love Melissa and think she is too funny, but her stylist totally missed it here! Larger women should NEVER wear a tent AND they should never wear a lot of embellishment at the bust line either! Her dress was pretty, but just not on her body. She needed a dress that was simple, sleek, understated and flowed over her curves without hugging them. She needed to show more of her shape!
The night was full of surprises and great moments! Sacha Cohen surprised Ryan Seacrest during an interview with a chest full of "ashes". Sacha came dressed as "the Dictator" from a movie he is promoting. He was flanked by two beautiful women dressed in military garb and he was carrying an urn. While interviewing with Ryan Seacrest, Sacha "accidentally" spilled the urn on Ryan! Ryan's face said it all. He was not happy, but he handled it with grace!
The presenters were great to watch this year. Most came with some sort of funny skit. A couple of my favorites were Ben Stiller & Emma Stone. It was Emma's first time presenting and she acted as if it was all about her - too funny! Also, Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr. Robert pretended he was making a documentary called "presenter" and came out with cameras. He and Gwyneth bantered and bickered back and forth for a minute. They have great chemistry! Host Billy Crystal did a fabulous job too!
To sum it up the evening was spectacular! Jean Dujardin won best leading male actor while Meryl Streep won best leading female actor. Christopher Plummer at 82 became the oldest person to receive an Oscar as best supporting male actor. Octavia Spencer won as best supporting female actor. While Hugo & The Help scored big last night, the one picture that walked away with it all was "The Artist"!
What a night!!!
