We all can't just pick up and move or go to the nearest store and buy new furnitue. So what is the solution? Incorporating some small changes into your home decor can give you a fresh new look. What a better time to do it than this summer?!
The key is to bring the outdoors inside then add pops of your favorite color in various shades. Natural elements such as moss, rocks, flowers, woven fabrics and wicker as well as neutral tones of beige, cream, white, tan, or green will enable you to pull the outdoor look off. Remove the darker tones of fall & winter and replace them with lighter, brighter natural pieces to spruce up your home. Not only will your home look summer chic but it will be inviting and warm for those who come to visit!
Adding wicker pieces creates an airy outdoor feel. Whether they stand alone or are filled with silk plants or flowers, wicker is a great way to lighten up.
Woven rugs bring texture and nature to the floors. Choose a run with a slight pattern if your decor is primarily solid or one that is solid if your decor is full of pattern. Strategically placed, these rugs are great centerpieces for any room!
White washed pieces, whether small end tables or decor pieces, such as old shutters repurposed, are a great way to brighten up a room. Go to an old junk store, find some wooden pieces and refinish them in white. Once dry take a bit of sand paper to it to give it that shabby-chic, worn look.
Adding decorative pieces from the beach not only bring your memories into the room but add an atmosphere of the place we all enjoy! Star fish, shells, and other beachy knick knacks are a great way to bring the outdoors in.
By all means, always add a bit of shine into a room. It helps to reflect light and brighten the space. Incorporate silver vases, glass, or mirrors into the room to give it pizzazz!
A great way to lighten any room is to change out your drapes. Take down the dark, heavy drapes you've had up for the winter and replace them with neutral toned sheers to bring the sunshine into the room!
Rocks, repurposed bottles filled with leaves or flowers and moss are great ways to bring nature into the house. It gives that warm, inviting, lived-in feel to a room and is neutral so that you can place it with any color!
Pops of color in various hues add your own personality to the room. Colorful pillows, vases & knick knacks are a great way to do this. Don't go overboard, just add a few pieces to keep it Tres Chic!
Have a blast this summer and create memories. Spruce up the home with some hot summer decor! It's fun and gives you a fresh creative perspective.
