Women love the hunt. That is, the hunt for that special item that is unique and distinguishes itself from all other products. Westport Village is one of my favorite places for hunting! It is filled with stores, cafes, boutiques, and restaurants, with something for everyone! Whether you are young at heart or enjoying your retirement years, Westport Village is a great place to hunt, shop or simply hang out!
On my last visit to Westport Village located on the corner of Herr Lane and Westport Road, I came across some fab finds that I'd like to share with you:
For the chef in the family Zi Olive (502.365.3866, www.ZiOlive.com) is the place to go! Here you can sample gourmet olive oils & balsamic vinegars, imported from Italy, in delicious flavors! Who would think olive oil or balsamic vinegar would be something you could sample by itself?! Well not only can you sample it, you will be surprised to find it is so good you will want to take some home with you.
Great for salads, marinades, spritzers for popcorn, and all types of cooking, these concoctions turn an ordinary meal into an Italian masterpiece!
Les Filles (502.618.4888, www.lesfillesboutique.com) provides its guests with an eclectic mix of unique hand crafted gifts! There were several items that caught my eye at this store, such as a new line of metallic jewelry designed by Sara Davis & metallic handbags. These items are unlike any I've seen around town, and believe me I get around town a lot! I love the metallic finishes and the fact that they are hand crafted, mostly made by local designers! A great way to get a one of a kind.
The Amazing Green Planet (502.290.1358, www.AmazingGreenPlanet.com) is simply that, amazing! Diversity is the theme here, with items for children, home, garden and adults and all GREEN!
I ran across these Salt Slabs. They would make a perfect gift for the man in your life who enjoys grilling. The salt slabs can be used on the stove, grill or oven. Place your food, unseasoned, on top of the salt slab and cook it. The food absorbs the salt for a mouth full of flavor!
Attention Fashionistas! Apricot Lane (one of my fav's) (502.708.2822, www.apricotlanelouisville.com) carries the cutest cowboy boots. Not just your every day cowboy boot, but these that come in a variety of colors and they are affordable too!
What I love about Apricot Lane is their affordability and the unique clothing pieces that would make most every fashionista's heart race!
PlayThings Toy Shop (502.690.7408, toyshoppe1@netzerio.net) has the most adorable scooters for kids. The Wheely Bug, your traditional scooter comes in the shape of a ladybug and a bumble bee! Cushioned seats and easy to handle, these scooters are great for the toddler in your home!
Then there is the Plasma Car. This is a kinetic energy driven scooter that is great for kids 3-16 years old. BEWARE - you will need to purchase one for each child because they are so much fun! The kinetic energy produced by swivelling the handle powers the machine - no scooting required! PlayThings is loaded with toys and games for children of ALL ages!
Ok - so quilts remind me of my grandmother who used to make quilts for all her grandchildren. There is something that just says warmth & love about a quilt! Donna Sharp (502.749.2800, www.donnasharp.com) has a store at Westport Village where everything is quilt inspired. You can choose from a variety of quilt patterns (and I have to say they are extremely reasonably priced for a handmade quilt!). She has spun off the quilts and begun a line of quilted bags and scarves as well as some clay jewelry with the quilt patterns.
For the gardener in the family, Secret Garden (502.426.2216, www.secretgardenshop.com) is the perfect place to find that something special. Owner, Cheryl Susemichel says these Gardener's Hollow bags are a gardeners best friend! They can be tied around the waist and free your hands for pulling weeds or harvesting your produce! The bag is tied to the waist for easy use.
Secret Garden has some great garden and home decor that will inspire the gardener in your family!
Boutique Serendipity (another one of my fav's) offers high quality clothing for the active, social stylista! The dress on the left is called a "miracle dress". Designed by Sara Campbell it actually thins and flatters most any figure! Also designed by Sara Campbell is this multi colored silk blouse. Pair this with a skirt, slacks or your favorite jeans for a hot daytime or evening look! And I love this Charlotte halter top by Eva Franco in orange and tan! For a hot summer day, this top will take you into the evening when paired with a great pair of jeans! Boutique Serendipity is a must stop when visiting Westport Village!
These are just a few of the fab finds you too can discover at Westport Village! Ready, set, HUNT!
