MEET LAUREN JONES, WAVE 3 METEOROLOGIST

Hello everyone!

Lauren Jones here...I will be the newest member of the WAVE 3 weather team starting September 17th. I'll be joining you every Saturday and Sunday morning alongside my co-anchor Scott Adkins...who will also be new to Wave 3 news.

I couldn't be more excited to work alongside Kevin, Brian, Christie, and Andy. While I've never worked with any of them before, I feel like I've known them for years! Let me tell you a little about myself and you'll understand why I feel "at home" here.

I'm originally from Columbus Indiana...just North of the Ohio River. I got bit by the weather bug at a very early age. I can remember being so terrified of thunderstorms that I would literally shake until they passed. My fear came from a lack of knowledge. At a young age, to me, red on radar meant death and destruction. As I grew older I became much more fascinated by the weather rather than scared of it. I engulfed myself in all things weather and quickly found that my fear was also my passion. A crazy combination! My first "weather job" took me to Evansville Indiana at WTVW-TV. I spent a handful of years learning the ropes and ached to be closer to home. A position "across the street" opened up at WLKY so I jumped at the opportunity. Does it make sense now why I feel at home? I've spent years watching Kevin and his team. Like you, they've kept me safe over the past few months as I've transitioned from Indianapolis to Louisville. That brings me to now. I'll be coming to Wave 3 from Fox 59 in Indianapolis where I've spent the last few years tracking snow storms, severe storms, and everything in between. I'm grateful to have worked alongside some of the best Meteorologists in the country and look forward to continuing that trend here at WAVE.
