It appears it may get pretty active this afternoon as the upper low over MO is interacting with sunshine/high dewpoints and warm temps over the region.
First---the risks.
SPC latest outlook: SLIGHT RISK
Tornado -- highest west Hail--- our main threat Straight-line Winds: elevated
Here is the latest visible satellite showing how full sun is taking places just to the west of I 65. It is that area...ahead of the low, that has the greatest risk for severe storms this afternoon/evening.
Latest CAPES are going up to around 1000 as well in that area.
Hail parameters are pretty high across IL esp but likely will shift more east later on.
The shear is pretty impressive to our west...esp in IL/IN area. That is where SPC also placed the 5% tornado threat.
CURRENT WATCHES: Severe Thunderstorm 7p/8p ET
We will keep an eye on this line as it moves east.
