As we head right in to Derby Week, we are carefully watching the storm chances. While many of us are loving the unseasonably warm weather, the storms could put a real kink in our plans. First off, we have the BED RACES tonight, and unfortunately, we also have a chance of rain and storms during that time. If you don't want to risk it, you can catch the Bed Races live here on WAVE 3 at 7PM.
When: 7 p.m. today. Pre-race parade at 6 p.m. “Dormitory” display of beds from 11:30 a.m. to about 5:15 p.m.
Where: Bed races inside KFC Yum! Center, on Main Street between Second and Third streets. “Dormitory” outside on Norton Healthcare Plaza.
Admission: Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin. (A pin is not required for the “Dormitory.”)
Storm Chances for TODAY:
NOW-5pm: 20% chance
5pm-8pm: 30% chance (during the Bed Races)
8pm-12am: 50% chance
Today we are under a SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS... mainly after 4pm. Our main threats are large hail and damaging winds. The tornado threat is very minimal.
12am-6am: 50% chance
6am-12pm: 60% chance
12pm-4pm: 50% chance
4pm-7pm: 40% chance
7pm-12am: 20% chance
Right now, we are not under a threat of severe storms for tomorrow; however, some storms could have gusty winds.
Oaks Day: Partly sunny and warm. 30% chance of a shower or storm. High 86.
Derby Day: Partly sunny and warm. 40% chance of a shower or storm. High 82.
You know how it goes... it either rains on Oaks Day or Derby Day, so plan to deal with a storm or two no matter which day you plan to be out there. You'll need to dress for temperatures ranging in the mid 70s to mid 80s during the races.
