Summer 2012 officially begins today at 7:09pm... even though much of Spring 2012 felt like it was summer. The summer solstice is today, which means the Northern Hemisphere is tilted toward the sun at a 23.5 degree angle. This brings direct sun to the Tropic of Cancer which is located at 23.5 degrees north latitude. The sun will be at its most northern point in the sky today.

Unfortunately we are starting this summer off on the wrong foot. We are under an Air Quality Alert for today, unhealthy for sensitive groups. Those who suffer from asthma should consider staying inside, which might seem pretty nice anyway since our afternoon temperatures will be reaching the 90s again today.
