MOTHER NATURE SLEEPING?
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. That’s our weather pattern. Mother Nature must be taking a nap because the weather the last few days has been so quiet. Hey, I’m not complaining it’s pretty nice to have a relaxing few days to enjoy the weather compared to a hectic few days tracking it. The graphic below says it all. This is a map of the US with all of the watches and warnings. At any given time during the Spring and Summer months this thing is lit up with every color of the rainbow. Today…not so colorful. And again, I’m not complaining. :)
QUIET TORNADO SEASON IN MAY
Mother Nature may have been napping during the month of May, too. New statistics just released stating that May’s tornado count nationwide was the lowest it’s been in DECADES! Tenatively, the lowest it’s been since 1979. That’s pretty spectacular and much needed after an active start to the severe weather season. Here’s some stats that tell the story…
AVERAGE TORNADO FOR MAY: 306 tornadoes ( 10 year average)
MAY 2012: 117 tornadoes (preliminary count)
MAY 2012: 62% below average
STORM CHANCES THIS WEEK
Mother nature continues her daydreaming over the next few days as calm, quiet, and warming conditions continue. The noticeable difference in the coming days will be the warm temperatures. We've remained below average for nearly a week and we'll jump above average by this weekend. 90s likely to return by the end of the weekend. Storm chances expected to return by early next week. Enjoy the warm up and calm weather. Thanks Mother Nature! :)
