Yes. We know it is hot. So I decided to look at any chance for relief with this post.
I didn't find much.
There is a "vort max" that will pass to our north tomorrow from IL to OH. We may see a storm chance for our IN counties toward Sparta (heads up just in case race fans)...but the idea that this "max" can actually develop questionable right now. So storm chance will remain about 10-15% and mainly north/east.
SPC still has a 5% severe risk out if they form. Which makes sense. Very high winds would be possible with storms in this setup. However, that risk has been shifted a bit more north compared to yesterday.
This ridge of high pressure is going to be tough to smash down....they usually are in the Ohio Valley.
The debate on when this ridge will get smashed down will come up again mid-week of next week.
GFS really wants to try---but again, history has proven that to be a challenge.
GFS shows a low tracking into the NE around July 6-7.
If that does NOT happen, the heat will last through that weekend.
The potential certainly is there for us to emain in the 98-102 degree range for 7-10 days! Let's hope we get some relief. Better yet, let's hope the GFS is right as we drop some.
We will keep you posted. Stay cool out there folks!
