Severe thunderstorms continue to pass through the Louisville metro as of 7:20 PM. We've had a handful of severe thunderstorm warnings across much of Kentuckiana. These storms are producing extremely heavy rain in addition to dangerous cloud to ground lightning, winds in excess of 60 miles per hour and large hail. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH remains in effect for nearly all of the WAVE 3 viewing area with the exception of our far Southern counties until 11:00 PM.
Looking ahead...
A cold front continues to push from our Northwest to Southeast by tomorrow. With the daytime heating still in place for two more hours and a cold front in the area the severe weather threat will continue. This initial batch of storms in our area is of concern right now but we look upstream as a line of storms is trying to form in Central Indiana. This could bring us another round of storms through later this evening...which also have the potential to turn severe. In fact these storms in Central Indiana are located where the shear is stronger...this area would have a better shot at producing tighter rotation resulting in a brief spin up.
