It's so cool to look back on the old footage from WAVE 3 19 years ago when we broke a 24 hour snow total over 15 inches, and we set an all time coldest temperature for Louisville at -22 degrees. Shelbyville set an all time coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Kentucky at -37 degrees!!! A band from Lexington to Cynthiana had nearly two feet of snow from this system. The interstates got so bad that Governor Bererton Jones closed down the interstates. On top of that, the bitter cold weather caused water pipes and water mains to break.
