ARCTIC BLAST - JUST HOURS AWAY...
Very cold temperatures are slowly but surely inching towards Kentuckiana. Single digit lows with sub zero wind chill readings will arrive tonight and into tomorrow. Before the hard hitting cold arrives we could see some lingering snow showers today, especially North of the river, with the dangerously cold temperatures arriving tonight, and a chance for a rain/snow mix by Thursday.
CRANK UP THE HEAT...
Temperatures will dip into the single digits tonight for most of the area. Winds will remain breezy out of the North and West which will result in brutal wind chill readings. Wind Chill is what it actually feels like outside...which during this type of set up is much more important than the actual air temperature. Expect upper single digits and low teens across the metro area tonight, but when you factor in the winds it will feel at or below zero in the city and colder in the suburbs. Expect the coldest temperatures we've seen in years just in time for the kiddos to head back to school, so the bus stop will be COLLLDDDD!!!!!
TEMPERATURE VS. WIND CHILL
Below is a break down in the actual air temperature and what we can actually expect when we head out the door tonight and into early tomorrow. With clouds developing along the cold front that may keep us a handful of degrees warmer overnight - but it won't be enough to make a difference. At this point 0 - 10° will feel much the same. Plan ahead, give yourself some extra time to heat up the car this evening and into tomorrow morning. Bundle up!
